These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *

Female (25-35 years) as requirement to have hands on during seizures.

23-year-old Neurodiverse female with Type 2 Bipolar Disorder and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) which includes non-epileptic attack disorder and sensory impairments is wishing to employ a personal assistant to further her independence whilst her parents at work.

Support required:

·       Supporting client with their Mental Health – attending appointments in Redruth and promoting a positive outlook.

·       Supporting client with their physical wellbeing – 3 weekly swimming and gym sessions. Swimming/Gym sessions will be at the Falmouth Hotel or swimming at Swanpool Beach.

·       Supporting client to attend Arts & Crafts courses.

·       Supporting client to attend GP and hospital Appointments and collection of prescriptions in Helston.

·       PA to be responsive to client’s needs – there may be a requirement to work Saturday’s and potentially evenings – TOIL will be provided if working over allotted 35 hours per week.

·       Encouragement around self-care – client has a suprapubic catheter in situ.

Hourly rate of pay: £12 + 0.45p per mile

Hours per week: 35

Working schedule: Monday – Friday 09:30 – 17:00

Hours and days may be subject to change at short notice dependent on the needs of the client.

Essential:

·       Valid DBS

·       Driving Licence

·       Evidence of previous experience working with Neurodivergent Adults.

·       Evidence of previous experience working with adults with complex Mental Health needs.

Desirable:

·       In date First Aid Certificate

·       Ability to manage seizure activity and adhere to seizure care plan.

·       Ability to manage shoulder dislocations – shoulder will often dislocate during seizure. Training can be provided by parents.
