Location: Foxhole, St Austell
A lady is seeking a caring and enthusiastic support worker to assist with her morning routine, getting out and about in the community using her wheelchair, and domestic tasks.
If you’re an animal lover, this is the perfect role for you! There are a couple of friendly dogs in the home, so being comfortable around animals is a must.
Support required:
- Household domestics: Assisting with daily household tasks such as cleaning, tidying, laundry, and maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment for the client.
- Getting up and support in the shower: Providing compassionate assistance with morning routines, including helping the client get out of bed and offering support with personal hygiene and showering while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Meal preparation: Preparing nutritious and appealing meals tailored to the client’s dietary preferences or requirements, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
- Encouragement to get out of the house for shopping and coffee trips: Motivating and accompanying the client on outings to promote social interaction, mental well-being, and physical activity. These outings may include grocery shopping, running errands, or enjoying a cup of coffee at a local café.
- Medication prompts: Offering gentle reminders to ensure the client takes their prescribed medications on time and as directed.
- Epilepsy support: Providing appropriate care and reassurance during and after seizures, including following specific care plans to ensure the client’s safety and comfort.
Hours and Pay:
Hourly Rate: £12
Hours per Week: 16 hrs each week
Schedule: This can be flexible – previous support has been Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays from 10am until 2pm.
Please note, hourly rates are determined by Cornwall Council and are a fixed rate. Should you be unable to deliver this role for the hourly rate stipulated, please do not apply.
Essential Criteria:
- Caring, honest, and trustworthy nature: We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for supporting others.
- Eligibility to work in the UK: Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK, with the ability to provide relevant documentation when requested.
- Full Clean Driving License and access to own car with business insurance: You must hold a valid UK driving license, have a roadworthy vehicle, and carry business insurance.
Good sense of humour and a happy disposition: A positive outlook and the ability to approach situations with humour and warmth. - DBS Check: For the safety and well-being of our clients, a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. If you don’t already have one, we can guide you through the application process.
- An understanding of epilepsy and heart conditions is essential, as this lady experiences different types of seizures.
