These roles are personally assisting somebody to achieve their goals, gain independence and/or manage their daily lives; These will be self-funded by the family or person, or they may receive a Direct payment from Cornwall council. *

Location: Redruth

10-year-old cheeky little monkey seeks support at home and in the community. He is non-verbal and has been diagnosed with profound & multiple learning disabilities, blindness and may express self-injurious behaviour. He also requires a wheelchair.

The right person will be caring, open to cuddles, hands on and capable of working with very young children.  Ideal qualities are vigilance, resourcefulness, trustworthiness, reliability and a good sense of humour.  You will be working in the family home, which includes a sister, dogs and a cat.  You will probably accompany some or all of them outdoors, on trips and activities around Cornwall.

Full training can be provided, but this role is more about childcare than medical support.

You would be employed through an agency for this work.

 

Support required:

●    The ideal person should be able to read stories aloud, sing songs, help him play, learn his communication and moods, whilst being good company and keeping him safe.

●    You will also help with assisting to eat, bathing, personal care and administering medication.

 

Hourly rate of pay: £13.50 depending on experience.

Total hours: Approx. 16 hours a week.

Term-time; 4 afternoons a week from 4:30-8:30pm. In school holidays, hours may increase and patterns will change to accommodate carer and family plans.

Essential:

–        Experience working with children.

Ideal:

–        Qualifications and/or experience of working with children with P.M.L.D / SEN and behaviour issues.
