Job Advert: Personal Assistant (PA) for Young Adult with Additional Needs
Location: St Austell
Hours: 12 hours per week (mornings only)
Pay: £15 per hour
Contract Type: College holiday cover only
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Personal Assistant to support an 18-year-old young adult with organic brain damage (likely Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder – FASD) and autism, who also has a learning disability.
About the Role:
As a Personal Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our client. Your support will focus on encouraging her interests, facilitating communication, and ensuring her daily routines are enjoyable and fulfilling.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support during morning routines.
Engage in activities that she enjoys, such as swimming, crafting and playing with her doll babies.
Assist with communication using her preferred methods (e.g., through play and interaction).
Promote her independence and help her navigate daily tasks.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience or understanding of working with individuals with autism and learning disabilities.
A patient and nurturing approach, with a strong focus on building trust and rapport.
Creative ideas to encourage engagement in activities and communication.
A willingness to adapt and be flexible to her needs and preferences.
