Applying for jobs from outside the UK
Unfortunately at present, most employers on this website are not able to sponsor applicants from abroad. Please do not submit an application unless the employer has specified they will accept candidates who do not currently have the right to live and work in the UK as they will not be able to help you.
Employers who can sponsor international candidates tend to use recruitment agencies and do not accept applications directly. We would encourage you to visit the list of Ethical Recruiters used by social care and the NHS, and make an application via these agents instead.
Applying for jobs from inside the UK
If you are already living in the UK and have a Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa, you must work full-time for your employer who has sponsored you. However, you are permitted to work an additional 20 hours per week for another employer. This employer does not need to have a sponsorship licence in order to offer you a job.
If you are in the UK on a Student Visa or as a dependant of a visa holder, you can apply for any of the jobs on this website. You should make it clear in your applications that you do not require sponsorship.
Changing your sponsor
Unfortunately, there are very few employers in Cornwall with certificates of sponsorship available. If you wish to change your sponsor, we suggest you visit the Home Office website where they have published a register of all the companies in the UK who have a licence to sponsor international workers. You can filter the register by area and make applications directly to any employer listed.

Further guidance
The UK government has recognised the valuable contribution that workers from overseas can make to our social care and health system.
The Health and Care Workers visa was created to provide a pathway for professionals in this sector to find work and stay in the UK.
To qualify for a Health and Care Worker visa, you must:
- be a qualified doctor, nurse, health professional or adult social care professional
- work in an eligible health or social care job
- work for a UK employer that’s been approved by the Home Office
- have a ‘certificate of sponsorship’ from your employer with information about the role you’ve been offered in the UK
- be paid a minimum salary – how much depends on the type of work you do
Find out more about the visa and how to apply on the UK government website.
