Tei started out as a care worker after moving to Cornwall. He didn’t know what to expect but enjoyed the interview and learnt about the role which he felt suited him. Tei feels that if you care about other people and enjoy supporting other people then you will enjoy Home Care and progress quite naturally. It is, he says, out of any industry, one where you can be recognised for those values and you don’t have to diminish those values to progress. Tei’s career progressed fairly quickly, from starting as a care worker and really getting to know the processes and service users Tei soon became a supervisor, before another promotion shortly after saw him become deputy manager. With each step on the career ladder came an increase in wage and opportunities to train. Pay also being linked to the qualifications gained.
