About the role
As a Bank Cook, you will help provide nutritious, home-cooked meals for our residents, supporting their health and wellbeing. You will step in as required to cover shifts, working closely with care staff to ensure mealtimes run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare home-cooked meals for residents, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks
Ensure meals meet dietary requirements and individual preferences, including special diets
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety
Monitor stock levels and report shortages to senior staff
Assist with serving meals and cleaning kitchen areas
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and infection control procedures
Work collaboratively with care staff to ensure residents’ mealtimes are enjoyable and safe
Who we are looking for
Previous experience in catering or cooking, ideally in a care home or similar setting
Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
Flexible and reliable — able to cover shifts as needed
Friendly, team-oriented, and caring, with a positive attitude
Passionate about preparing tasty, nutritious meals for residents

What we offer our staff
A typical day
7:00 am – Start of the day: Prepare and serve breakfast for residents, ensuring dietary needs are met
Morning: Begin preparing lunch, including chopping, cooking, and organising ingredients
Lunch Service: Serve lunch to residents and assist with clearing dishes
Afternoon: Prepare supper, ensuring meals are nutritious and appetising
Additional Tasks: Carry out kitchen cleaning, stock checks, and general tidying to maintain high hygiene standards
6:00 pm – End of shift:
Throughout the day, you will ensure food is prepared safely, hygienically, and to a high standard, while supporting residents’ health and enjoyment at mealtimes.
