For Charlotte McCormick, home care is simple at heart: people first. She loves her job, and says seeing the people she supports makes her day, as well as theirs. “Some of the people I visit don’t have family,” Charlotte explains. “So when a carer turns up, it’s a friendly face, a bit of company, and someone who’s truly there for them.”
Charlotte grew up around care. Her mum worked in the sector all her life, and one day Charlotte decided to take the leap and give it a go. Seven years on, she hasn’t looked back.
As a Team Manager and Home Carer, Charlotte splits her time between coordinating visits and stepping in on the frontline. She keeps things running smoothly for the team – supporting new starters, sorting rotas, and still makes time for those unhurried moments that matter: a cuppa, a chat, a laugh. “That human connection is everything,” she says. “It turns a visit into something people look forward to.”
