About the role

Are you a compassionate, dedicated and friendly carer with a passion for supporting people? We're looking for Support Workers to join our teams working in our community care services.
This is an essential role in supporting people in Cornwall to return to or remain in their homes and to be as safe and independent as possible.

A typical day

Permanent Workers: Full time and Part time opportunities available (within the working pattern hours, see below).
Hours – Guaranteed Two Week Set Working Pattern: You will have a Week 1 and Week 2 rolling rota to help promote a healthy work-life balance, and for ease of mind.

All rounds start at 7:00 – 14:00, the evening rounds start at 17:00 and finish at the latest 22:00 and working every other weekend is mandatory.

You are always paid for a full shift, even in the event of a client cancellation.
Guaranteed Paid Travel Time & Mileage: 45p per mile. This includes travel, and contact time, for a consistent and worry-free salary.

Full training and continuous development provided: Company Induction may include training for the Care Certificate, Moving and Handling, and Basic Life Support. Elearning will cover some mandatory training, aswell as TMobile and care plan training. There is job shadowing, and team and office support available. Management 1 to 1’s and supervision, and annual appraisals. There could also be the opportunity to achieve qualifications such as Level 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care and career pathways within the organisation.

We are hiring for our teams across Cornwall: You will join the closest CORNWALL team and base to where you live. Some service users will be in close proximity to your home location and some you will need to travel to. This can be discussed when you are invited to interview.

Key Responsibilities

The role of the Support Worker is critical to the success of an individual in meeting their agreed outcomes and to ensuring someone remains in their own home for as long as they would wish and is safe to do so. This will involve working with other professionals, team members, or working alone to carry out the care/reablement plan with the individual, promoting flexibility, dignity, respect, wellbeing, confidence and independence, so that the person has the best quality of life.

Your job will be to maintain accurate and factual records as a legal requirement in order to evidence and communicate actions and outcomes effectively to others, maintaining safe working practices as a lone worker or doubled handed working, to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of service users, self and others. Monitoring the health, wellbeing and progress of service users and report any concerns/changes back to management in order to protect and safeguard vulnerable adults.

You will ensure a positive and flexible approach to the variety of tasks within the role, including supporting service users with their daily living skills, personal care, meal preparation and housekeeping. Working with families, healthcare professionals and occupational therapists and supporting service users to access community opportunities.

You will operate in accordance with the diverse needs of the community to ensure equal access to services and be responsible for your continuous development and to undertake relevant training as required.You will offer safe and appropriate support to each individual in a person-centred way, complying with and maintain best practice in relation to Health & safety matters, which will include basic risk assessments and the prevention and control of infection. Using an innovative approach to positively support customers to achieve as much independence as they are able to. Complying with the code of conduct, staff handbook and other Corserv Care policies and procedures in order to promote quality standards, values, beliefs and principles of care that respect Human rights.
