About the role

To provide care in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements, reflecting policies and procedures and agreed on standards under the direction of the manager.
To support and enable people supported to maintain personal interests whilst delivering person-centered care unique to each individual. Along with meeting all personal care and hygiene needs on a daily basis.
To maintain skills at a current level, undertake such training and development as required from time-to-time to maintain and progress knowledge.

A typical day

Role-specific duties:

To ensure the people we support are at the heart of the care delivery and their wishes and preferences enhance their wellbeing. Ensuring all daily personal care needs are met, keeping dignity, respect and the individuals choice at the heart of every aspect.
To be responsible for reporting back any relevant changes or concerns to your line manager promptly.

Key Responsibilities

Working with others:

To develop effective working relationships with the staff at Karrek Care and build and develop a professional relationship with service users, their family and any important people in their life. Keep a good line of communication with colleagues, service users (where applicable) and your managers.

Lead by example:

Be a role model for others ensuring you maintain a professional, polite manner, always referring to Policies and Procedures in place. New staff will be given the
opportunity to shadow the more experienced staff to meet the service users and give an expectation of our standards. Be motivated and seek personal growth where possible.

Communication/On-call:

Karrek Care will have an on call out of hours service in place. This is for emergencies only and will be active from 6 am until the office opens at 9 am, then from 5 pm when the office closes, until 10:15 pm. All emergencies such as reporting sickness or service user emergencies should all be done so via phone call only as texts may be missed. All non-emergencies will be expected to be reported vai phonecall to the office, within office hours.
Communication is key when working with vulnerable adults in the community as they may be unable to report issues themselves.

Experience is Health and Social Care is not essential as we are looking for the right people with the right characteristics, and we will provide full training and support. In addition, experienced support workers will initially work alongside you on ‘shadow shifts’ to show you the ropes, and our management team will continually support you as you develop in your role.
