Join Our Team at Corserv Care as a Senior Support Worker
Salary: £24,964.63 pa (£13.68 per hour). Guaranteed Payment of your Contracted Hours. You are always paid for a full shift, even in the event of a client cancellation. This includes travel, and contact time, for a consistent and worry-free salary. Mileage Allowance: 45p per mile.

Base: Western Group Centre Office, Radnor Road, Scorrier, TR16 5EH
Other: You will join the WEST CORNWALL team and support our service users in the WEST areas of Cornwall. Some service users will be in close proximity to your home location and some you will need to travel to.

A typical day

Duties will include:

To assist Care Supervisors by undertaking and contributing to the assessment and review of individuals and the development of their support plan. This includes accurate record keeping and report writing

In addition to delivering hands on care in individuals’ own homes a proportion of time will be spent ensuring accurate record keeping and assessment completion, both within the home using mobile technology and in an office setting.

Prescribe and arrange low level equipment and assistive technology which will aid the Reablement journey for Customers after completion of the trusted assessor training.

Support the reablement offer in STEPS, working in partnership with the TEC assessor in participating and promoting the TEC enabled care offer.

Support Care Supervisors with the induction, training and supervision of new staff members by sharing expertise and knowledge within the team.

Support service users to access community opportunities and work directly with users, providing advice and support to facilitate independence.

Participate in the Out of Hours Duty System, as required by Care Supervisors, to support staff and service outside of office hours on a rota basis.

Participate in providing more in-depth health related tasks as identified on individuals support plans once a need has been identified and training provided by Health practitioners.

Offer safe and appropriate support to each individual in a person-centred way

Comply with and maintain best practice in relation to Health & safety matters, which will include basic risk assessments and the prevention and control of infection.

Ensure support is provided to the level stipulated in the Reablement/Care Plan.

To use an innovative approach to positively support Customers to achieve as much independence as they are able to.

Comply with the code of conduct, staff handbook and other Council policies and procedures in order to promote quality standards, values, beliefs and principles of care that respect Human rights.

Maintain accurate and factual records as a legal requirement in order to evidence and communicate actions and outcomes effectively to others

Maintain safe working practices as a lone worker and alongside others to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of service users, self and others

Monitor the health, wellbeing and progress of service users and report any concerns/changes back to management in order to protect and safeguard

To operate in accordance with the diverse needs of the community to ensure equal access to services

Be responsible for self and others continuous development and to undertake relevant training as required.

Key Responsibilities

Role Purpose: Providing personalised support to vulnerable adults who live in the community and have identified care & reablement needs. The emphasis being on providing people with safe, responsive, effective, compassionate and high-quality care, via the STEPS Reablement service. Working with individuals to ensure care is person centred and based around the principles of increasing independence and encouraging self-care as far as possible. The role of the Senior Support Worker is to be on the frontier between health and social care, helping individuals focus on building their strengths and achieving their goals.

What you’ll be doing: The daily tasks for this role will include supporting and assessing individuals within their own homes and structuring personal Reablement plans tailored to their lives. The post will be working closely with families, health professionals and Occupational Therapists to ensure the people supported are assisted to regain confidence. This role also provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills by guiding newer staff and supporting the Care Supervisor role.
