We are looking for enthusiastic, resourceful and forward-thinking people and are excited to be recruiting Support Workers to support BARC within our service in Newquay.
About the Role:
This role requires a driver with a full UK automatic driving license, as driving the mobility vehicle is an essential part of supporting the individual.
The person supported enjoys her arts and crafts, especially at weekends when her boyfriend stays over. She enjoys going to Slimming world and requires encouragement around healthy eating and exercise. She loves to watch the sea and surfers, boats and getting out and about enjoying the Cornish coastline. She will often attend Church on a Sunday and a walking group on a Friday morning, along with Gateway on a Friday evening and requires active staff to support her with these. 2 days a week she attends Day centre and enjoys this part of her routine, looking forward to seeing her friends and the staff there. She enjoys watching sports on the TV, loves football and car racing and enthusiastically cheers on her favourite team. She loves to chat with her staff, tell you you’re gorgeous and will happily accept any praise given.
She has diagnoses of a learning disability, bell’s palsy, dementia, high blood pressure and cholesterol, for which she takes regular prescribed medication. She partially manages her medication (tablets) but needs full support with eye medication. She requires lots of reassurance around her staff Rota, events, family visits and phone calls. Family relationships are very important to her, and staff need to support her with clear boundaries to maintain these
The ideal support worker will be reliable, patient, and reassuring, with a genuine interest in promoting independence, supporting decision‑making, and enabling her to continue enjoying an active and fulfilling lifestyle centered around her interests.
About the usual working pattern:
16 – 20 hours per week, with 9.30am or 3.30pm starts, working until 22.30pm with a sleep-in until 7.30am, then until 9.30am each day for consistency.
Day shifts 9.30am – 3.30pm.
To be discussed at interview. Shift patterns will include alternate weekends.
