A typical day
No two days are the same as a Support Worker, but your role will focus on helping individuals live as independently and fulfillingly as possible both at home and in their local community.
A typical day may include:
Supporting individuals with their morning routine, including personal care where required.
Assisting with preparing meals, drinks, and encouraging healthy eating.
Providing support with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
Supporting individuals to attend appointments, activities, college, work placements, or social events.
Encouraging participation in hobbies, interests, and community activities to promote wellbeing and inclusion.
Supporting individuals to develop daily living skills, confidence, and independence.
Assisting with medication administration in line with training and care plans.
Building positive relationships through conversation, companionship, and emotional support.
Working alongside families, healthcare professionals, and other services to ensure the best outcomes for the people we support.
Completing records and documentation accurately to reflect the support provided.

Support individuals to access community activities, appointments, education, employment, and social opportunities.
Administer or assist with medication in accordance with training, policies, and procedures.
Encourage and support individuals to achieve their personal goals and outcomes.
Maintain accurate and timely records, including daily notes, medication records, and incident reports.
Follow care and support plans, risk assessments, and organisational policies.
Safeguard the welfare of vulnerable adults and report any concerns appropriately.
Work collaboratively with families, colleagues, healthcare professionals, and other agencies.
Support individuals with household tasks to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and mandatory training.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries at all times.
Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of the people you support and yourself.
Act as a positive role model and ambassador for Cornwall Health Care Services.
