About the role

Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall is looking for a caring, calm and dedicated Female Waking Night Care Assistant to support a customer in their own home in the Crantock area.

This role involves providing attentive waking night support to a customer with complex care needs, helping them feel safe, comfortable and reassured throughout the night.

You’ll be part of our Care Expert Team, with full training provided and support from our Registered Nurse, so you feel confident in the care you deliver.

This is a 20-hour per week role, with pay from £15.46 per hour on weekdays and £15.66 per hour at weekends. The vacancy page lists the salary range as £15.46 – £21.58 per hour.

Due to the nature of this role, this is a female-only position due to an occupational requirement.

A typical day

As this is a waking night role, your shift will be focused on providing calm, consistent support overnight.

You may begin by checking in with the customer, reviewing their care needs and making sure they are comfortable and settled. Throughout the night, you’ll remain awake and attentive, responding when support is needed.

This may include personal care, repositioning, PEG feeds, suctioning, comfort checks and reassurance. You’ll also keep clear records and communicate any important updates to the wider team.

Your presence will help the customer feel safe and supported at home through the night.

Key Responsibilities

As a Waking Night Care Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

Providing waking night support in the customer’s home
Supporting with personal care in a dignified and respectful way
Monitoring comfort and wellbeing throughout the night
Providing specialist care, including PEG feeds and suctioning when needed
Supporting with repositioning and comfort, where required
Responding calmly and appropriately to the customer’s needs
Keeping clear records
Communicating with the wider care team
Being a dependable, friendly and reassuring presence throughout the night
