Providing companionship, reassurance and emotional support.

Encouraging individuals to develop and maintain their independence, confidence and daily living skills.
Recognising and reporting changes in an individual's health, wellbeing or circumstances.
Maintaining accurate care records and communicating effectively with colleagues and other professionals.
Following safeguarding, health and safety, infection prevention, confidentiality and other relevant care policies and procedures.
Treating every individual with respect, compassion and dignity, while supporting their rights, choices and preferences.
Apprenticeship and Development
You do not need to know everything about care when you start. APRA Care will provide induction, practical training, supervision and ongoing support to help you develop into a confident and competent care professional.
Your apprenticeship learning will be delivered in partnership with Cornwall College, enabling you to develop your knowledge and practical skills while gaining valuable experience working within the adult social care sector.
We are looking for people who are caring, compassionate, reliable, respectful and willing to learn. Applicants should have good communication skills, understand the importance of confidentiality and professional boundaries, and be committed to providing safe and person-centred support.
A career with APRA Care is more than completing daily tasks. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to people's lives by helping them maintain their independence, dignity, safety, wellbeing and connection with their community.
For the right candidate, this apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a long-term career in adult social care, with opportunities to continue developing skills, qualifications and responsibilities within APRA Care.
What we offer our staff
A typical day
A typical day as a Care Worker / Support Worker Apprentice with APRA Care is varied, rewarding and focused on helping people live safely and independently in their own homes and communities.
Your day will usually begin by checking your rota and the care plans for the individuals you are supporting. You will travel to scheduled visits within your allocated area of Cornwall, with each visit providing different opportunities to support an individual’s needs, choices and agreed outcomes.
During a morning visit, you may support someone to get ready for their day. This could include personal care, dressing, mobility support, preparing breakfast, medication support and encouraging the person to complete tasks independently wherever possible.
Later visits may involve preparing meals and drinks, supporting with shopping or household activities, attending appointments, accessing the community, or providing companionship and emotional reassurance. Some individuals may require more practical support, while others may mainly need encouragement to develop their confidence and independent living skills.
Throughout your working day, you will observe each individual’s health and wellbeing, complete accurate care records and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate APRA Care team member. You will be expected to follow care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and safe working practices at all times.
As an apprentice, part of your working week will also involve paid apprenticeship training and learning with Cornwall College. You will have opportunities to apply what you learn during your apprenticeship directly to your work with the people you support.
No two days in care are exactly the same. You will meet different people with different needs, preferences and personalities. What remains consistent is your responsibility to provide safe, compassionate and person-centred support that promotes dignity, choice, independence and wellbeing.
By the end of each day, you will know that your work has contributed to helping people remain connected to their community and live their lives with as much choice, control and independence as possible.
