About the role

Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall is looking for kind, calm and dependable Children’s Support Workers to support children with complex needs across Penzance, Camborne, Carbis Bay and the surrounding areas.

This role is about helping children feel safe, understood and supported at home and in their community. You’ll provide one-to-one support with daily routines, personal care, communication, confidence and activities outside the home.

This role mainly involves evening, weekend and school holiday support, when families often need extra help. During school holidays and half terms, support hours may increase, so flexibility is important.

This is meaningful work that also gives families reassurance, consistency and peace of mind.

A typical day

A typical shift may involve arriving at a family home after school to support a child with their routine, personal care, tea time, communication, play or activities.

You may help with a community outing, support a child to build confidence, or provide practical help so their family can have a little breathing space.

During weekends and school holidays, shifts may be longer or more varied. You might support with outings, hobbies, personal care, mealtimes or time at home. Every child is different, so the role is about listening, adapting and offering calm, consistent support.
