About the role
This is a part-time role providing 2:1 support at home and out in the community, during both term time and school holidays. You’ll be part of a dedicated care team, helping the customer feel safe, supported, engaged and able to enjoy everyday life as fully as possible.
This role would suit someone who is calm under pressure, observant, patient and confident supporting someone with complex health and communication needs. Previous care experience is essential, and full specialist training will be provided for the specific needs of the role.

A typical day
During term time, a typical weekday shift may run from 3.00pm to 8.00pm, supporting the customer after school with their routine, comfort, communication, care needs and time at home or in the community.
At weekends and during school holidays, shifts are usually 10.00am to 6.00pm. These days may involve supporting with personal care, specialist care needs, activities, community access, engagement and family routines.
You’ll work as part of a 2:1 support team, helping the customer feel safe, understood and supported throughout the day. Full specialist training will be provided, so you feel confident in the care you deliver.

As a Complex Care Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:
Providing high-quality care tailored to the customer’s individual needs
Supporting a young person with complex health and communication needs
Providing practical and emotional support in a person-focused way
Promoting independence, engagement, safety and wellbeing
Supporting at home and out in the community
Observing and responding to body language and alternative communication methods
Supporting with PEG feeding, where required
Supporting with suctioning, where required
Following detailed care plans
Keeping clear records and communicating with the wider care team
Being a calm, dependable and reassuring presence
